Angela McRobbie is Professor of Communications at Goldsmiths University of London. She began her academic career at the University of Birmingham's Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies and has written books and many articles on subjects including gender and popular culture, the UK fashion design sector, young people and sexuality, the new cultural economy, and feminist theory. Her most recent book on cultural theory is titled The Uses of Cultural Studies (Sage 2005) and is translated into Chinese and Czech. She is currently completing two volumes, one titled Post Feminist Disorders: Gender and Social Change, and a short book on new forms of work in the creative industries which is called Be Creative. Angela McRobbie contributes regularly to public and political life in the UK, writing for the Guardian newspaper, taking part in discussions on BBC Radio 4 and attending seminars hosted at the House of Commons.
